The latest data from Pew Internet Research Center shows that 13% of online adults are using Twitter to send out status updates. This is a significant increase from 2010 when just 8% of online adults were using Twitter.
Most Twitter users (95%) have a cell phone, and about half access Twitter through their handheld device.
For adults 25-34, there was a usage increase from 2010 of 9% to 19% and adults 35-44 grew from 8% to 14%.
Awareness of Twitter is high, even for those who don’t use it. 92% of adults have at least heard of Twitter.
