NetSuite is a powerful ERP system, but many users aren’t aware of small features and shortcuts that can significantly improve their workflow. Here are some quick and easy tips to help you get the most out of NetSuite.
1. Use Global Search Like a Pro
Instead of clicking through menus, use Global Search at the top of the page to quickly find records.
Shortcut prefixes let you refine your searches:
- inv: for invoices
- cu: for customers
- tr: for transactions
- emp: for employees
2. Keyboard Shortcuts for Faster Navigation
- Alt + G – Jump to the Global Search bar
- Alt + Shift + G – Open the “Go To” menu
- Ctrl + Click – Open links in a new tab (great for multitasking)
- Tab – Move through fields without using your mouse
- Shift + Tab – Move backward through fields
3. Personalize Your Dashboard for Quick Access
- Click Personalize Dashboard (top right) to add shortcuts, reminders, and reports.
- Use the Shortcuts portlet to save direct links to frequently accessed records and pages.
- Set up Reminders for overdue tasks, open invoices, or approvals waiting for review.
4. Save Time with Custom Views & Filters
- Use Saved Searches to quickly filter and access important data.
- Click Customize View on list pages (e.g., Customers, Transactions) to add or remove columns.
- Apply Filters to narrow down records without running a full search.
5. Leverage Inline Editing for Quick Updates
- On most list pages, enable Inline Editing (hover over the list and click the pencil icon).
- Edit fields directly from the list view without opening individual records.
- Example: Quickly update statuses, due dates, or pricing without extra clicks.
6. Automate Reports & Reminders
- Schedule reports to be sent automatically via email on a recurring basis.
- Use Custom KPIs on your dashboard to track performance at a glance.
